About Andrea Pitts

Andrea Pitts has been in the business of literacy, basic skills and clear communication since 1992, and is a partner at ClearWorks Communications. She has refined her teaching and training expertise through years of experience as an adult literacy practitioner in corporate and charitable environments, as well as private learning centres. Managing both one-to-one and small group adult literacy programs in a variety of settings including community-based organizations, high schools, and manufacturing companies has given Andrea a wealth of experience with students of all ages, needs, and backgrounds.

With an English degree from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Education degree with specialization in Adult Education from Brock University, Andrea teaches online for Conestoga College and OntarioLearn's Adult Literacy Educator certificate program, teaching a course offered nation-wide and focused on managing workplace-based literacy programs. She is a Laubach Literacy Master Trainer, providing certification for literacy tutors as well as upgrading workshops for literacy instructors seeking to further their knowledge in teaching and training. She is a certified Simultaneous Multisensory Teaching instructor and assessor for children and adults with dyslexia. Since its inception, Andrea played a key role in ArcelorMittal Dofasco's workplace literacy program, which has been recognized as an ideal model for workplace literacy programming since 1997.

As part of The Gardener's Group corporate team, Andrea is a licensed True Colours facilitator, and editor of the clarity version of "Revealing Your True Colours".

Andrea calls on a network of literacy specialists including teachers and information technology experts to assist in course offerings, and to meet individual client needs.
